Manchester United will attempt to reinvigorate their dwindling hopes of Champions League qualification when former coach Rene Meulensteen brings his struggling Fulham side to Old Trafford on Sunday.

The reigning champions lost their eighth game in the Premier League this term at Stoke City last Saturday, and will be looking to get back to winning ways against the west Londoners, who are rooted to the foot of the table.

David Moyes's men currently sit in seventh place and their latest setback leaves them trailing fourth-placed Liverpool by seven points with 14 top-flight matches remaining.

Giggs: Mata buy shows intent

Ryan Giggs expects Manchester United boss David Moyes to add more new faces to his squad in the summer.
After signing Marouane Fellaini last year and Juan Mata in January, the Reds manager has gone on record as expressing a desire to continue rebuilding his side when the transfer window reopens again at the end of the season.
Moyes has taken time to consider the merits of the players he inherited from Sir Alex Ferguson but is hoping to make several new signings to follow Fellaini and Mata into Old Trafford.
"I think it was always going to be the case with a new manager coming in with different ideas," insisted Giggs on MUTV. "Obviously, he's had a good look at all the players here at the moment but wants to stamp his own authority on the team.
"By signing Juan, it's a message of intent really that we are able to go and get great players like that and there are many more to come hopefully."

Vidic to leave Manchester United

The centre-back has confirmed this will be his last season at Old Trafford but says he is not considering any other club in England, with Inter and Monaco interested.

Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic has confirmed he will leave the club at the end of the current season.

The centre-back moved to Old Trafford from Spartak Moscow in 2006 and has won five Premier League titles and the Champions League with the Red Devils.

Manchester United will pay tribute on Thursday to the 23 people who died in the Munich air disaster on February 6, 1958.

Eight United players and three members of the club's staff were among the dead when the plane carrying Matt Busby's side back from a European Cup match in Belgrade failed to take off.

The plane had stopped off in Munich to refuel, and after two attempts to launch were aborted, the plane crashed on its third bid for flight.

Fletcher reveals illness agony

The midfielder missed two years of action due to ulcerative colitis but reveals that he initially hid his problem for a number of months.

 

Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher has revealed how he lied to team-mates about the bowel condition that came close to forcing him out of the game.

The Scotland international spent a combined total of nearly two years out of action after being diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, but has fought back to rebuild his career after a run of games under David Moyes.

Fletcher admitted that he had been "blase" about the condition at first and had lied to the club about the severity of the problem to avoid embarrassment.

Despite his advancing years, Walter Mazzarri's Inter, who are languishing down in sixth in Serie A, have lined up Vidic as a primary target as they look to get back on track under new owner Erick Thohir.

Reported Manchester United target Toni Kroos has fuelled speculation surrounding his future by revealing he remains unable to agree a new contract with Bayern Munich.

The 24-year-old attacking midfielder, whose current deal expires in the summer of 2015, was heavily linked with a January move to Old Trafford.
